CJ5 D44 Rear
« on: February 10, 2011, 02:26:43 AM »
I have, for sale, a D44 rear axle from a 1975 CJ5.  I believe it's a 3.73 ratio.  Must be able to pick up.

CJ Dana 44's are around 51" WMS to WMS.  Your axles are just like TJ's, so they should be 61" wide.

Can it work, sure anything can work.  Is it going to be tough to use and adapt for your width, yes.  Don't get me wrong, that is a good axle and a good deal.  It wouldn't be very cost effective to use in a TJ/ZJ though.  The bracket kit alone for it would set you back $250-$350 and then you have to think about a locker too.  Lunch box lockers run roughly $200-$300 depending on the deal you can find.  Then you'll have time in getting it ready.

Just throwing out there a few numbers and things I have learned researching for my build.  You just need to figure out if its worth it to you.

04 TJ, HP60, 14 Bolt, 5.13's, linked, locked, on 38's and (still) in the works.

You'd be better off buying Steve's D44 that he's selling from his TJ. It's a little more expensive, but much less hassle installing.
