I reinstalled my cb after 5 months with out it about 2 weeks ago and now my jeep dies every time key up my jeep stumbles and or dies i have moved the wires moved the antenna re wired done every thing i can think of do you all have any ideas it is not a power issue

soounds like u got something shorting out i would remove the whole system and wiring and then re install keeping the wires away from everything. either way this is pretty funny.

I have rewired regrounded and checked every thing i am now looking at rf interfearance it only cuts out on channels 1-30 so any ideas

Sounds like you have a short in the radio itself.  Also consider where you are stealing power from to operate the CB.  There isn't enough power being produced to cause any RF related problems from the radio.  When you hooked up the radio did you terminate the negative lead at a terminal or on the chassis?  Is the power you are using Switched or Unswitched? (Do you have to turn on the ignition to get power)  I would find another CB to wire up and see if the same thing occurs.  Try to rule out the radio itself as the problem.  If you put another radio (borrow one that you know is good) in and the same thing happens then you have deeper problems otherwise you may need to find a new radio.  I think WillC has one.

K i will try a different transmitter but it worked fine 5 months ago when i pulled it out of my jeep and set it on a shelf

the power wire is now off the battery and the ground is off the body i have tried to use i switched power as well as a constant and every combination in between and i believe it is rf interference Because it does not do it on every channel

it may not be the cb or the wiring it self. it may be a short somewhere else in your vehicle that is causing this problem... i had a similar issue, a blew a fuse in the main fuse box in the engine bay how ever it was nothing of the sort, it was a ground wire for my amp in back. it may not always be the obvious... check other electric connections that you have worked on in the passed and find irregularities. wires that dont look right. coloration or something of the sort.

The amount of energy needed to cause that much interference would easily do that to the cars around you also and nothing short of an EMP would be needed.  There is another explination.

i understand that the power usage has a large effect but at the same point a short somewhere in the system whether it be in the jeep or in the CB it self will cause that ignition issues.. but who knows

The reason I asked you to switch the CB's with a "Known Good" CB was to determine if the CB was in fact the problem or weather the problem lay elsewhere.  Could it be that when you mounted your CB you drove a screw through another wire and when you key up the mic you are providing an alternate path to ground for the penetrated wire.  I have been troubleshooting electronics for a while now and think there is an outlying issue.

Chuck this is the cb that i bought from you before your first run up mabell



what i think the problem is is that i have interference with the crank position sensor Because it is a magnetic sensor and it is very close to cb wireing and before i had my t case drop and stock worn out motor mounts and could fit my fist between the trans and fire wall now i have a tummy tuck and a mml and can only fit a finger between the trans and fire wall  the cb mount is the same and antenna mount is the same spare tire bump stop

So i either have interference issues or a bad transmitter

sorry chuck i didnt read that part, my apologies for being an ass, lol also its kinda funny that in essence he was having a mini emp run through his jeep but not for the reason i gave.
