Lost Key to XJ

(1/2) > >>

kirksjeep:
My $1500 XJ on came with one key, and all the times I thought I should get one made and didn't came back to bite me in the butt.  I think I may have left my only key on the back of my YJ and drove off and lost the key.  I called a locksmith and even with AAA it would be $150 out of my pocket :'(.  I am going to head to the dealership at lunch tomorrow and see if they can look it up with the vin and cut me a key.  Luckly the key is not one with a chip and the remote for the door locks never worked anyway.  I just hope we don't get much more rain since the windows are down. :(

Been there done that.just make sure u take your registration in with you or they won't do it. And obvuosly your vin is right there on it. Very simple process

It was almost that easy ;D

I walked in and gave them my registration, 6 bucks and 5 minutes later I was on my way.  The new key works perfect.  I was told they only keep records for 10 years so those with a 2000 can still get keys made from thier vin numbers.

So,  have you made a copy of it yet?
