what axles/gears are you running/planning on running? are your fenders trimmed? Are you willing to hack up your fenders to clear 35s? Are you going to be sitting at 4.5'', or 6.5''? you mentioned you were going up 2 more inches?

If you're only going 4.5" of lift and put 6.5" of lift under it you're going to need control arm drop brackets or longarms to correct your suspension geometry. I had 6.5" of lift on my XJ and with short arms the angle is so bad that you feel every bump because the arms absorb the bumps before the springs and shocks can do their job. You also get really bad bump steer and the axle will be tilted too far forward which will make your springs bow rather than contracting and expanding straight up and down. It's do-able, but I felt that it was too dangerous to drive at highway speeds like that. I would stick with 4.5" of lift and cut fenders to go with 35s if you really want them.

x2. Or even just stay  at 4.5 with 33's and use that money for lockers or something.

Don't forget that the difference between 4.5" and 6.5" can be pretty expensive.  Like Roger said, you may need long arms or drop brackets, a SYE, gears, longer shocks, different axle shims in the rear, and I'm sure some other stuff that I am forgetting.  Also if you plan on running 35's, what axles do you have?  I would gusse you have an 8.25 in the rear which parts are not cheap to upgrade since they are only used in XJ's and KJ's.  An axle like an 8.8 is much cheaper to re-gear and add lockers.  In the front the D30 with 760 (or 297) U-joints will hold as long as it is unlocked and the skinny pedal doesn't get mashed too hard.  I run 35's on my YJ with a D30 and I carry spare shafts even with alloy USA 760 U-joints.  I would also highly recommend front frame stiffeners and a steering box brace for 35's.  I personally would look to add frame stiffeners and a steering box brace on any XJ used off road.  Roger ran a steering box brace/ bumper mount on his XJ but possibly tweaked the frame horns a few weeks before sending it to the scrap yard.  Good Luck, and remember it Jeep stands for Just Empty Every Pocket  ;)!

You guys are making me think know lol 35s will cost a lot i might just stick with 33s which i already have im ordering the lift tonight. but maybe ill just build it like this for now so i can wheel and slowly upgrade to eventually run 35s. my new plan for now the 4.5 inch lift my 33/10.50/15 km2s off my old jeep full skids rock sliders and maybe a rear locker one ton steering as well and 4.10 gears.

33s will be fine for the stuff we do for now. Maybe look into some 33x12.50s? I'm eventually wanting to run 35s also.

Its the rustys 4.5 inch lift with full leafs. No its not long arm cant afford the long arm but its upgradable to long arm so i can If i get the money for it in the future. which i will end up with the long arm on it. but im going to do other upgrades first like full skids, 4.10 gears, winch and winch bumper, bushwacker flares, rocker guards, some other stuff add on board air stuff like that.
