Mark your calendars for the FOOD DRIVE in North Adams.

EC4WDA Four Wheel Food Drive, Saturday November 7th.
Meeting place: National Guard Armory, Ashland St, North Adams, Ma
Meeting time is 9am, departing to the trails by 11am.

On Saturday, November 7th, 2009, the Berkshire4Wheelers and East Coast 4 Wheel Drive Association, Northeast Region, will be holding their annual Four Wheel Food Drive food collection and off-road trail ride to benefit the Northern Berkshire Community Action Coalition food pantry. Attendees will donate non-perishable food items in the morning and then head out into the Berkshire hills for guided trail rides.. Coffee and donuts will be provided as well and a 50/50 raffle
Supermarket gift cards for Big Y and Stop & Shop will be accepted as well.

Please be ready for technical/equipment inspections. Nothing beyond the basics required on any organized trail ride. Take a look at your straps and recovery points BEFORE you show up with defective sub-par equipment please.
There will be different levels of trail difficulty available for all comers, however our emphasis is on attendance and giving. Be reasonable about how difficult your rig can handle. As you arrive you will be parked with a group for EASY, MODERATE or DIFFICULT… not by what trail you feel like doing. I expect 40+ rigs and 100+ people to attend. So the more cooperation we get the better it will come off..
Please make a point to attend, or give a donation to your buddy who is going.
This is one staple event that keeps us in a good relationship with the towns up there and we kick-ass every year.. lets make it another great season-closer!!

rocket:
For anyone going who doens't know where I live, PM me for directions and a map.  I also have several FRS radios in case of inoperable/non-existant CBs (gonna try to fix mine this week). Some notes for those who've never been to this area/this event:

 - They will do vehicle inspections and will turn you away if you don't meet the rig requirements.  I know they wanted to see your tow points, tow strap, fire extinguisher (the sm auto ones are under $10 at walmart), spare, jack, etc. Check out our rig requirments page (our req's meet/exceed theirs).

 - Its about a 2.5 hr drive from my house, so gas up before showing.

 - We will probably hit the DD drive through before hitting the hi-way.

 - Pack a lunch/snacks/water as the trails can be long (or lengthened by break downs).

 - Cell phones only work in a few localized areas, so tell your SO not to expect to reach you

 - Be prepared for the weather: It will snow up there while its raining here, so expect anything.  It will be colder up there than down here.

 - know what parts/fluids you may need up there.  expect to break something!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to PM myself or Roger.

rocket:
Roger, looks like we are the only ones interested in wheeling this weekend.  I just looked up the weather, it will be about 35F when we get there.

calvynandhobbs:
Yep, it looks like it's just the two of us. I'll make sure I dress appropriately. I didn't realize it was going to be that cold tomorrow morning. Somebody at work told me that they thought they were supposed to get a little snow last night when that rain came through here. I doubt if any will be on the ground by tomorrow, but you never know.

gearhead1985B:
If you spot me some gas money i think i can make it on time it will only cost a couple of hundred dollars
