Probably a stupid question, but asking anyway
« on: October 19, 2009, 04:00:31 AM »
I talked to a guy tonight about buying his HP D30 with 4.56 gears and a locker already in it to save myself the hassle of having to get my D30 regeared when I have the rear axle redone and also save myself some cost of regearing. The axle is located near the airport in Hartford and I'm flying out Thursday and coming back Sunday. Do you think it is possible to ratchet strap that axle across the front frame and front bumper of my TJ to bring it home? I'm thinking that I could just set it lengthways on top of the frame to get it back to the house. What do you guys think?

Just put it in the Jeep and leave it hanging out the back.

Could always drop the top and put it on the roll bar.

On a serious note. I work in East Windsor, if you want I'll grab it for ya, just cover gas.

I did a quick look at my axle and how I think it would fit on there and I think it will work fine. I'll bring a small towel to make sure it doesn't rub on the grill at all. I'm just thinking I can do this to save myself from making two separate trips out there. I sent an email to the guy to see if he'll be around when I come back into town Sunday night so once I know if he'll be around or not I'll know if I need to make a second trip or not.

What night are you heading out there? I can give him a call and see what his schedule looks like and if it will work I can give you the money to give to him between now and Wednesday evening.

I talked to him last night and I'm just going to go pick the axle up after I get off the plane Sunday night. We'll figure out a way to get in the Jeep.
