1.  Did you add a T-case drop kit? no or did you put on a SYE?no  Anything over 2" requires one or the other.
2.  Are these new or used springs?  new Which Brand? Pro-comp

Check out this link for Drive shaft angles:
http://www.4xshaft.com/index.html

-For a 4" lift with a SYE/CV drive shaft you will need a 6 deg shim
-For a 4" lift with stock drive shaft and a T-case drop kit you will need a 4 deg shim
-For a 2.5" lift with SYE/CV drive shaft you will need a 4 deg shim
-For a 2.5 lift with stock drive shaft and T-case drop you will need a 2.5 deg shim

I put a 2.5" lift on my Bro-in-law's YJ and at first it sat about 3.5-4 inches but settled to 2.75" after the first time we flexed it.  He has the Rubicon Express (not XD) so it was a good kit.  I would expect your springs to settle.  My 4.5" lift sat at 5" for about 6 months but now is at 4.5 front and 4 1/4 rear (mostly due to the diameter of the 8.8).

with the 4 different lift kits i have helped install at the shop a 4" rc a 4" procomp and a 2.5" rc for a yj and a 6" rc on a tj the tcase drop is only 1"

so with a 4" lift kit and a 1" t case drop that is roughly 3" differance between the t case output and the pinion so with a 2.5" lift why do i need a tcase drop

how should i set up the pinion. The 15 degrees was pointing the pinion right at the the driveshaft but from what i read on the links kirk posted i will only need an 7.5 degree shim cause i need the joint angle at the tcase and pinion to be the same is that correct if i am running a stock ds

and the RE standard lift springs are rebadged Pro comps which is what i bought and i am running rear springs all the way around for the spring rate since that i have seen how stiff procomp springs are the rears are a little softer than the fronts and at $65 apeice and another $30 cheaper than new stock replacements is why i bought them and i am tired of junk yarding rear springs to have them become reversed arched in 2 months

i want to get these springs broke in and have them sag so that when i go soa next month i will be able to set my pinion angle correctly the first time

There is a reason that RE provides a 1" T-case drop with even their 2.5" kits, with out it the drive shaft angle is too steep.  One of the reasons a SYE is to do away with the slip yoke, but it also shortens the Drive train so a longer drive shaft can be used.  When looking for shims only a few places even sell 8 deg shims, and generally only up to 6 deg is considered safe.

You can ask Roger what happens when the drive shaft isn't lined up right, his old XJ pretty much ate a U-joint before the SYE and CV drive shaft.  Also remember that when the suspension droops the angle gets even steeper and puts a lot of stress on the U-joints.  If you only used your YJ as a Mall Crawler you could get away with not doing a T-case drop or SYE, but we all know you are going to beat on it.  Since you are going to need a SYE (possibly a super short SYE) and a custom built CV drive shaft with a spring over I would just go with a T-case drop and 2.5 deg shims for now.  You can order directly from RE and they give military discount.

I have seen that you like the skinny pedal and when combined with bad drive shaft angles equals BANG!!!!!!

Kirk is there any way you could get me those 6 degree shims

gearhead1985B:
I no Longer need those shims John at bumper to bumper found some shims in the back and i made a custom t case drop  the drive shaft Lines up and i am good to go for the rally as soon as i replace my rear u Joint

kirksjeep:
Just make sure you test your Jeep out before we get on the road for the rally.  I can see you pulling into Groton Town House now, "hey guys I need to fix my Jeep again" ;D
