New winch
« on: October 13, 2008, 04:17:10 AM »
I just installed my new winch this weekend and it didnt work, it just clicked.  I tried again with the hood open so I could keep the RPMs up and I noticed a little smoke coming from the battery terminals which I then noticed were hot.  All wires were connected as per instructions.  Any ideas?

4WD is shipping me a new winch and they dont want the old one back.  So if I can get some help fixing the old one, I'd be happy to let it go really cheap.

You got it!  Its brand new never used.  I just missed wired 2 of the grounds and I dont know enough about electricity (except it hurts when you come in contact with it) to fix it.

I have to appolagize Scott.  I called them back bc I was going over our conversation in my head and I needed to make sure they were sending the winch and not a controler.  As I suspected they were sending a controler (which I had 2 and now have 3).  So now they are sending the winch and I have to send back my old winch.

.....*footman's cell phone rings*

Strange voice: "Is Footman there?"
Footman: "Footman speaking."
Strange voice: "Hey, you don't know me but I am stuck behind the Super Wal-Mart in Waterford.  Could you aahh come and pull me out.  Make sure you bring a second winch because I am really stuck.  Thanks."
